After a long wait, the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League will finally be staged this year, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) confirmed.

General Secretary Kiran Rai said preparations have been moving at full pace for the country’s most prestigious league.

“There is no question of the league not happening this season. ANFA is fully prepared and internal groundwork has already started,” he said, adding that efforts are being made to make the competition well-organized, attractive, and competitive.

As part of the preparations, ANFA has called for submissions for the official league logo and trophy designs, with cash prizes of NRs 50,000 and NRs 35,000 set for the winners, respectively. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is also conducting a League Development Workshop to help improve the structure and management of Nepal’s league football.

According to ANFA’s annual calendar, the league is tentatively scheduled to kick off from Poush 1. However, the final date will be adjusted after discussions with the clubs and by considering the international football calendar. Despite recent delays caused by unresolved promotion issues, ANFA says it is determined to move forward with new energy and strategy this time.

The governing body is also planning discussions with A Division clubs on detailed competition matters. Rai further revealed that ANFA is exploring the possibility of hosting some league matches outside the Kathmandu Valley to expand football nationwide.

Alongside the league, ANFA continues to push youth and women’s competitions on a regular basis. “We have been consistently organizing youth and women’s tournaments. Now, the A Division League will also be held regularly,” Rai added.

The Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League is regarded as the most prestigious football competition in Nepal, serving as the main platform for producing national team players and identifying new talent.
